Régates Royales
September 21 - September 26

The Cannes Royal Regattas are part of a long maritime tradition. Created in 1929 to honor King Christian X of Denmark, a passionate sailing enthusiast, these regattas enjoyed their golden age until 1939, before falling into oblivion in the 1960s. It was in 1978 that Jean-Pierre Odéro, then director of nautical activities in Cannes, revived the event, which has continued to grow ever since.
Today, this event has become one of the world’s premier gatherings for classic sailing, attracting hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators each year. The bay of Cannes, a true natural jewel, provides an exceptional setting to admire these magnificent vintage sailboats, which showcase timeless skill and elegance.
